One that’s been around for a while, evolved alongside a business, or gradually become more complicated as new features and functionality have been introduced. And sometimes, it just needs a fresh pair of eyes.

A website that worked perfectly well when it was first launched might not quite meet the needs of the business several years down the line. Perhaps new services have been added. Booking systems, online payments or membership facilities have become part of everyday operations. Or maybe the business itself has grown and changed direction. All perfectly normal.
But as websites evolve, they can become more complex to manage. Different systems need to work together, updates become more involved, and what was once a straightforward website can require a little more attention. That’s often where we come in.

At We Are Life, we don’t only work on websites we’ve designed ourselves. We’re also happy to take a look at existing projects, understand what’s already in place and explore how we might help. Sometimes that means resolving a technical issue. Sometimes it’s improving functionality, making content easier to manage or finding a more practical way of doing things.
Our first step is always to understand the website, the business behind it and what needs to be achieved. There isn’t necessarily a one-size-fits-all solution, and we wouldn’t suggest starting again simply for the sake of it. Often, a few carefully considered changes can make a real difference.

Of course, there are occasions when an existing website has simply reached the point where a more substantial rethink would be beneficial. And that’s where our real passion lies. We’re designers at heart. We love the process of creating a website from the ground up – understanding a business, developing ideas, considering how visitors will use the site and bringing everything together through thoughtful design and functionality.
Starting afresh can also provide an opportunity to simplify things, rethink how different elements work together and create a website that’s easier to manage as a business continues to grow. It’s not always about doing more. Sometimes, it’s about doing things differently. And better.

Whether we’re helping with an existing website or designing something completely new, our approach is much the same. We listen, ask questions, explore the possibilities and offer straightforward advice about what we believe will work best. Sometimes the answer is a relatively simple fix. Sometimes it’s a series of improvements. And sometimes it’s the beginning of an entirely new website.
The important thing is finding a solution that makes sense for the business, rather than continually adding to something that may no longer be serving it particularly well.
